Game 1: Tri-County Timberjaxx 5, Lake Superior Sea Dogs 4 (9 innings)

Dillon Devine's home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning--the second extra inning--won the first game of the Upper 13 League doubleheader at Cornstalk Stadium here on Sunday, July 2.

Donny Miller's two-run single with two outs in the top of the eighth gave Lake Superior a 4-2 lead. Dylan Levra hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, after Peyton Solberg reached base on an error with two outs.

Dante Bender earned the win with one inning of relief work. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout.

Jake Lewis (2-2, 1.82 ERA) pitched all eight and two-thirds innings for Lake Superior. He allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.

Brayden Bender had two hits for the winners while Miller and Bob Eastman notched two hits apiece for Lake Superior.

Game 2: Lake Superior 6, Tri-County 4

Corbin Taylor and Bob Eastman hit solo homers in the top of the first and Lake Superior never lost the lead in the nightcap.

A solo home run by Ike Bramlett cut the lead in half in the second inning before Alex Busick connected for a two-run home run in the third for a 4-1 score.

Taylor's RBI single plated Cameron Pietrusa for a 5-1 lead in the fourth.

Dylan Levra hit a two-run home run in the fifth for a 5-3 score.

Taylor scored from second base when Busick reached on an error in the sixth.

Tri-County, trailing 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh, loaded the bases with no outs on a bunt hit and two hit batsmen before winning pitcher Owen Hindermann retired the side with three strikeouts. The final run scored when Bramlett reached on an error with one out.

Hindermann (1-0, 9.00 ERA) picked up the win with four innings in relief of Anthony Bush. Hindermann allowed three runs on three hits, one walk, and two hit batsmen with eight strikeouts. Bush allowed one run in three innings and surpassed 700 career innings pitched. He now has logged 702 innings pitched in 182 appearances since 1996.

Taylor batted 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI and Eastman, Brock McDermid, and Nik Mattson had two hits each for the Sea Dogs.

Austin Trier and Peyton Solberg had two hits apiece for Tri-County.

Losing pitcher Dante Bender allowed four runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in three innings.

Lake Superior is now 3-2 in the Upper 13 League (3-3 overall). Tri-County is now 2-3 in Upper 13 League games.
