SUPERIOR -- The Lake Superior Sea Dogs defeated the Tri-County Timberjaxx, 7-3 and 9-4, in an Upper 13 League doubleheader at Morrie Arnovich Field on Saturday.

Lake Superior scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of the first game to erase the Timberjaxx' 3-2 lead. Donny Miller's RBI on an error tied the score, and the go-ahead run scored on a passed ball before Alex Busick connected for a three-run home run to cap the scoring.

Mark Baldwin earned the win in relief of starter Conner Fonger. Baldwin pitched two scoreless innings without a hit or walk and had one strikeout. Fonger allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and four walks with five strikeouts in five innings.

Busick and Austin Parrott had two hits and Busick had three RBI to lead the Sea Dogs.

Brandon Rolf and Ike Bramlett had two hits apiece to pace the Timberjaxx.

The Sea Dogs wasted no time in taking the lead in the second game. They plated two in the top of the first and four in the second for a 6-0 cushion. Tri-County scored a run in the second but two more by Lake Superior in the fourth made it 8-1.

The Timberjaxx scored three in the fifth to cut into the lead but the Sea Dogs scored an insurance run in the top of the seventh for the final tally.

Parrott was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and two RBI, Joe Udd had two doubles and two RBI, and Busick and Ethan Raye contributed two RBI apiece for the Sea Dogs.

Winning pitcher Anthony Bush allowed zero earned runs on eight hits and one walk with no strikeouts in four and one-third innings pitched. Udd tossed two and two-thirds scoreless innings in relief.

Rolf, Austin Trier, and Dillon Devine had two hits each for Tri-County.

Tri-County, representing the Irowood/Hurley area, falls to 3-5 in league play.

The Sea Dogs are now 6-3 overall and 5-2 in league play. They are at Washburn tomorrow for another league doubleheader and then are at home on Sunday, July 31, against Ashland to complete their regular season. The previous reportage that today's games were the last home games of the season was an error by team management.
