SUPERIOR -- The Glidden Orioles defeated the Lake Superior Sea Dogs, 11-7, in an Upper 13 League baseball game at Morrie Arnovich Field on Saturday.
Glidden plated three runs in the second inning and five runs in the third for an 8-0 lead.
Alex Busick's three-run home run cut the lead to 8-3 in the bottom of the third.
The Sea Dogs scored a run in the fifth for an 8-4 score and were threatening for more with the bases loaded and two outs, but reliever Kevin Bebeau entered for starter Brett Hulmer and got a strikeout to end the frame.
Glidden added a run in the sixth, but Busick hit his second round-tripper, a two-run shot, in the same inning to make the score 9-5.
Glidden's Brendon Bebeau connected for a two-run double in the seventh. Lake Superior scored one in the bottom of the ninth for the final tally.
Kevin Bebeau earned the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts in four and one-third innings.
Kevin Bebeau and Hunter Bay had two hits apiece for Glidden.
Losing pitcher Jack Barnett (1-1) allowed four earned runs on three hits and five walks with one strikeout in two and two-thirds innings.
The Sea Dogs are now 3-2 in league play and 4-3 overall. Glidden improves to 5-3 in the Upper 13 League.
Lake Superior concludes its home schedule on Saturday, July 23, with a doubleheader against the Tri-County Timberjaxx. The first game starts at 1:00 p.m. at Arnovich Field.
