HAYWARD -- The Lake Superior Sea Dogs defeated the Whittlesey Reds, 8-4, in the WBA Playoffs here on Saturday, August 14.
Conner Fonger tossed five shutout relief innings for the win. He allowed six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
Whittlesey had built a 4-0 lead with single runs in the second and third and two runs in the fourth.
The Sea Dogs plated five runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
With two runs across already, Justin Sedin's three-run double plated the tying and go-ahead runs in the seventh.
Sedin added a sacrifice fly in the eighth for his fourth RBI of the game.
Isaac Fugere led Lake Superior with two hits. He hit a double and scored two runs.
The Sea Dogs will await the result of Sunday's Eau Claire Bears vs. Whittlesey game to determine which of the three teams advances to the final weekend of the WBA Playoffs.
