WASHBURN, Wis. -- Jake Lewis (2-0 W-L, 0.00 ERA) tossed a two-hit shutout in seven innings as the Sea Dogs defeated the Washburn Lumberjacks in the first game of an Upper 13 League doubleheader on Sunday. Lewis allowed one walk and had six strikeouts.

The Sea Dogs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. [Blake Bergquist led off with a double, moved to third on a single by [Eli Tintor] and scored on an RBI single by Bryce Huffman. Tintor advanced to second on Huffman's hit, advanced to third when Michael Karp bounced into a fielder's choice, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Seth Anderson.

The Sea Dogs started the third inning with four consecutive singles by Brody Kaldahl, Bergquist, Tintor, and Huffman that resulted in three runs for a 5-0 lead. Kaldahl scored on an errant pick-off throw, Bergquist scored on Huffman's RBI hit, and Tintor scored on an RBI single by Peter Atiemo.

Joey Zwak led off the fourth with a single and moved to third on a double by Derrick Winn. Zwak scored on an RBI reach-on-error by Kaldahl, which sent Winn to third. Winn scored on another RBI reach-on-error by Tintor for a 7-0 lead.

Lake Superior concluded its scoring with two runs in the seventh. Zwak led off with a walk and stole second. Winn walked. Both runners advanced one base on a passed ball. Zwak scored on an RBI groundout by Don Miller. Winn scored on an RBI double by Bergquist.

Bergquist batted 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI. Winn, Tintor, Huffman, and Atiemo had two hits apiece. Huffman had two RBI.

Shane Buckley broke up Lewis's no-hit bid with a double with one out in the fourth.

Losing pitcher David Barningham allowed seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.
