Game 1

Duluth-Superior Dukes 2, Washburn Lumberjacks 0

Jake Lewis (2-0 W-L, 1.80 ERA) tossed a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and one walk. [Blake Bergquis]t was 2-for-2 with a double and a run, Cody Dolsen was 1-for-3 with a double and a run, and Bob Baxton was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Dukes. Losing pitcher David Barningham allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings.

Game 2

Duluth-Superior 6, Washburn 1

Luke Nordquist and Lewis each batted 2-for-2 with two runs apiece, and Bergquist and Dolsen each had an RBI. Anthony Bush (2-0 W-L, 0.00 ERA) pitched two scoreless relief innings for the win. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout with no walks. Johnny Sechen was 1-for-2 with an RBI double for Washburn. Barningham was again tagged with the loss; he allowed five runs (all unearned) on three hits, one walk, and one hit batsman in two innings. He had one strikeout.

Game 3

Washburn 3, Duluth-Superior 2

Winning pitcher John Sopiwnik allowed two runs on five hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings. Mark Arbuckle batted 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, Shane Buckley batted 1-for-1 with a double, a run, and an RBI, and Dan Romano went 1-for-2 with an RBI single for Washburn. Michael Gales batted 2-for-2 with a run for Duluth-Superior. Losing pitcher Chris Vendela (0-1 W-L, 9.00 ERA) allowed three runs on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts in three innings.

Duluth-Superior is now 5-1 and Washburn is 4-5 in Upper 13 League games.
