SUPERIOR -- After 10 career relief appearances over the past four years, Kevin Hendrickx earned his first win in his first start for the Dukes as Duluth-Superior defeated Port Wing, 11-4, in a seven-inning Upper 13 League game at Morrie Arnovich Field on Friday night.

Hendrickx went the distance and allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks. He had nine strikeouts and had streaks of eight and 10 consecutive outs after a four-run first inning.

Corey Verhel was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI, Zach Veno was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI, Jimmy Merling was 1-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases, Brendan Burnap was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI, and Hendrickx was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI for the Dukes.

Shane Seybert had two hits for the Boilers.

Duluth-Superior improves to 3-2 in the Upper 13 League and Port Wing falls to 2-5.
