CROSBY, Minn. -- The Dukes won a non-league game on the road on Saturday by defeating the Cuyuna Range Miners, 12-5. The game was called due to rain with two outs in the top of the ninth. Holding a 7-5 lead through eight complete innings, Duluth-Superior scored five runs in the rain-soaked partial ninth inning.

Kevin Hendrickx, Jimmy Merling, and Travis Bartlett each had two hits for the Dukes. Hendrickx and Bartlett also had two RBIs apiece and Merling scored three runs.

Winning pitcher Anthony Bush (2-0, 1.50 ERA) had six strikeouts in seven innings pitched. He allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks. Bush earned his club-leading twentieth career win for the Dukes, which started as the Proctor Padres in 2007. Bush has 29 wins in his amateur career, dating back to 1996 for Superior's Bayside Vipers. Colton Godbout pitched a perfect eighth for the save.

Talor Lennartson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Miners.

The Dukes (3-0 in the Upper 13 League, 4-3 overall) are in non-league action tomorrow at Hibbing. Their first home game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, against the Upper 13 League's Chequamegon Cardinals at UMD's Bulldog Park.
