News '09: Padres Drop Two

BAYSIDE 9, PROCTOR 4

The Bayside Vipers won an Upper 13 League baseball game at Proctor.  Bayside was the home team.

Proctor battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to tie the score at 4-4 after three-and-a-half innings. Chris Musolf scored on an RBI single by Mike Gerard in the second inning. In the third inning, Musolf drove in Corey Pavlich on an RBI groudout and Dan Solarz scored on an RBI single by Kyle Cotrell. In the fourth inning, James Ostrander scored when Jason Melander walked with the bases loaded.

Bayside scored two runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good.  

Losing pitcher Anthony Bush allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings. Corey Pavlich allowed zero earned runs in three innings of relief pitching. Matt Lloyd pitched the eighth inning; he was touched for two runs on one hit and four walks.

Pavlich had two hits.
 

White Bear Township 12, Proctor 7
 

WBT defeated Proctor in a seven-inning non-league game in game two of the three-team tournament.

Despite not getting a hit until the fifth inning, Proctor rallied to come within 10-7 after six complete innings. In the fourth inning, Scott Lustig scored on a wild pitch and James Ostrander scored when John Oliver reached base on a passed ball strikeout. Lustig scored again in the fifth inning on an RBI triple by Ostrander. Proctor scored four runs on four hits in the sixth inning. 

Losing pitcher Ben Crawford worked one-and-two-thirds innings and allowed three earned runs on one hit and four walks. Matt Chruscielski pitched four and one-third innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits and two walks. Mike Gerard pitched the final frame; he allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks.

Ostrander had two hits.

WBT overcame a 6-2 deficit to defeat Bayside 7-6 in the final game.
