News '09: Hibbing 8, Proctor 7

HIBBING, Minn. -- The Hibbing Miners defeated the Proctor Padres in a non-league baseball game at Al Nyberg Field on Saturday. The Miners banged out 14 hits and were aided by six Proctor errors.

Proctor was unable to hold leads gained in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings. The Padres tied the game 7-7 in the seventh inning on a two-run home run by Bob Eastman, but Hibbing answered with one run the bottom of the seventh and shut out Proctor in the eighth and ninth innings to win the back-and-forth battle. 

Anthony Bush pitched his third complete game of the season for Proctor. He allowed two earned runs in eight innings on 14 hits and one walk. He had four strikeouts. 

Eastman had three hits and four RBIs, Dan Solarz had two hits and three runs scored and Tim Nylund had one hit and two runs scored. James Ostrander and Mike Gerard had two hits each.

The Padres will host the Oulu Blue Jays on Sun., June 14 in an Upper 13 League game.  The game will start at 1:30 at Egerdahl Field.
