HERMANTOWN, Minn. -- The Superior Lakers defeated the Proctor Padres in an Upper 13 League baseball game at Hermantown. Proctor was ahead 2-0 into the fourth inning when Superior sent 12 batters to the plate and eight of them scored consecutively, all with the first two batters being retired. Kyle Cotrell (0-3) picked up the loss for the Padres. He pitched five innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits, five walks and one hit batsman. He had three strikeouts.  Outfielder Jason Melander was called on for some mop-up relief pitching, and he answered the call by allowing one earned run on two hits, two walks and one hit batsman in three innings. The Padres were led by Scott Lustig and Buddy Carlson who had two hits apiece.

Proctor drops to 0-3 in league play and 0-9 overall.  They travel to Ashland, Wis., to face the Merchants on Sun., May 31.  They host the Port Wing Boilers on June 7 for their home opener.  Both games start at 1:30.
