Game 1 -- Fri., Aug. 22 -- St. Croix 5, Proctor 4

Reed Coil struck out 14 batters and former PHS Baseball Assistant Coach Kris Minor led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run on the first pitch as the St. Croix Ravens defeated the Proctor Padres in a seven-inning baseball game in the Casey Gazdik Memorial Tournament late Friday. Bob Baxton took the loss for Proctor. He allowed four earned runs on four hits and six walks in a complete game effort. Baxton had six strikeouts. Coil went the distance for St. Croix, allowing one earned run on five hits. Jason Melander had two hits for Proctor. The game featured two runners thrown out at first base on what seemed to be base hits to right field. Proctor third baseman Joe Collier was out on a nifty wrong-foot throw by the Ravens' R.J. Keur in the fifth, and Keur was gunned out by Proctor rightfielder Dan Solarz in the sixth.
