Game 1:

Proctor 5, Ashland C&S Design 3, 7 Innings

Ashland's first three batters of the game scored off of Proctor starter Anthony Bush, but Bush then settled in for a complete game four-hitter. Bush walked one and struck out seven. Ashland managed just three base runners in the last six innings, two of which reached on Padre errors.

Marcus Hulmer and Brett Beeksma hit singles and Matt Hulmer walked to load the bases in the top of the first inning. Jake Schraufnagel hit a sacrifice fly scoring Marcus Hulmer. Blake Ellefson reached on a error plating Beeksma. Tom Schraufnagel finished the scoring by driving in Matt Hulmer with a double.

Proctor put one run across in the second inning when Dan Solarz led off with a triple and scored on a Matt Chruscielski single. Proctor scored four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead and to end the game's scoring. Jason Melander singled, Jon Kent walked, and Scott Lustig singled to load the bases. Corey Pavlich then hit an infield single to the shortstop, who attepted to make a play at first base. The ball got away on the play, leaving Pavlich on second base and all three base runners safe at home. Lustig, a track and field participant at Minnesota State-Mankato, scored from first base. Pavlich later scored on a wild pitch.

Bush, the Padres' manager, earned his first pitching win in a Padres uniform.
